Mobile Phone Policy
Carlingford Adventure Centre has implemented this Mobile Phone Policy to support the safety, wellbeing and safeguarding of all participants, visitors and staff attending the centre.
The use of mobile phones and other personal electronic devices has increased significantly in recent years. While these devices are part of everyday life, their use can raise safeguarding concerns, particularly where cameras or recording functions may be misused.
For the purposes of this policy, mobile devices include mobile phones, tablets, handheld gaming devices, MP3 players, smart watches and any device capable of communication, photography or video recording.
This policy supports the centre’s commitment to child protection, privacy and the responsible use of technology while allowing students to enjoy their visit in a safe environment.
Day Visits
Mobile phones are not permitted for use during day visits.
- Teachers / leaders must collect all phones from participants before entering the centre.
- All devices must be switched off.
- Secure storage will be provided by the centre during the visit.
- Phones must not be accessed during activities, unless a teacher / leader takes responsibility for supervised use.
- Devices will be returned to teachers / leaders at the end of the visit.
Residential Visits
Mobile phones may be used during residential visits only at designated times:
- Outside of these times, phones must be collected and securely stored by teachers / leaders.
- Phones are not permitted in bedrooms overnight.
- All devices must be collected before lights-out each evening.
- This is a child safeguarding procedure and applies to all students without exception.
- Teachers / leaders are responsible for collecting, distributing and supervising device use.
- Upon arrival, teachers / leaders will be provided with a secure locker and key for device storage.
