Carlingford Adventure Group are the leading adventure centre and adventure family in Ireland, based in one of the most beautiful parts of Ireland, just 1hr from Dublin & Belfast. Family owned for over 30 years we now provide over 40 adventure activities and a 350 bed hostel, with over 100 staff at peak times. Description

As a multi activity instructor you must be confident in your own ability to encourage and coach a wide variety of ages and abilities, perform rescues quickly and efficiently, set up, run and de-rig an activity session with the highest standards of safety being adhered to. Our Instructors are trained on all activities which provides an opportunity to shine everywhere!

Senior Instructors

Description

Senior instructors are expected to make decisions that lead to positive change and be responsible for the management of all the facilities, equipment and operating procedures of activities.

Our senior instructors must have experience in the management of people; recognising and adapting training methods for a variety of learning styles, setting goals and supporting the team to achieve them and inspiring performance by role modelling to the highest standard.

All positions start with a minimum 10-Day training/induction course. Salary and contract will be discussed with appropriate experience and qualifications being taken into consideration. Accommodation can be provided if required.

Requirements

You must be enthusiastic and passionate about outdoor adventure management! All our instructors must a valid First Aid certificate and hold at least two of the following qualifications:

– RCI (SPA) Award
– UKCC Level 2 / ICU Level 2 Instructor

– ERCA Adventure Parks Awards
– ML Award / WGL Award or equivalent
– D1 Minibus License

Essential: Must have a minimum of 3 years work experience in the outdoor sector.

Watersports Instructors

– UKCC Level 2 / ICU Level 2 Instructor

– RYA Sailing/ Windsurfing Instructor

– RYA/ISA Powerboat Level 2

All instructors must be at least 20 years old and hold a valid First Aid qualification

As a sailing instructor you will be expected to teach all aspects of sailing and adapt session plans for compete beginners to improving sailing techniques at a competitive level.  Health and safety is our top priority and instructors must have experience understanding weather and tidal patterns as well as the correct use of equipment.

As a Senior Watersports Instructor you will work closely with the management team, running the water sports department in our centre. Ensuring the instruction to everyone is up to each governing body standard and making sure the guests get the most out of their stay.

Trainee Outdoor Instructors

Description

As a trainee instructor you will learn everything about instructing activities such as kayaking, how to care and maintain equipment to practising emergency rescue procedures for our high ropes and zip line parks. You will gain invaluable experience working with a huge variety of clients who have different needs and work within a fast paced and dynamic team.

Every day you will be outside, learning new things with the support and guidance of our qualified and experienced team of trainers. We are passionate about your personal growth and will continually review and assess your progress throughout the course.

Positions start with a 2-week intensive personal skills training programme, followed by 2 weeks of activity specific coaching training. Over 4 weeks you will get to experience over 20 different leading outdoor pursuits activities. You will also be trained on the vital soft skills, coaching methods and safety procedures that are required to be an engaging, safe and successful instructor.

After completion of the 4-week Intensive skills course, you will have gained the basic skills that you need to assist on activity sessions with our instructors.  You will shadow our instructors until you are assessed as having the confidence and ability to deliver the activity yourself. We will work with you continually to improve your confidence, coaching methods and personal skills through regular appraisals and a personal development plan.

You will be trained & assessed on the following qualifications:

– First Aid Certificate (REC 2)
– Powerboat Level 2 Certificate
– BCU 2-star Award
– BCU Foundation Safety and Rescue Award

Final exams and assessments will be carried out in August with awards & certificates being presented after at our graduation ceremony. From the 1st of September you will be employed as CAC Multi-Activity instructor earning €390-€450 per week.

Qualifications

We believe that experience is the most valuable tool to becoming an outdoor instructor, however there are many qualifications that will enable you to progress further in your career.  We highly encourage you to work towards gaining these qualifications while you are here by providing you with the key contacts, clubs and courses to get many desirable qualifications.  Not only can we open the door for you, but we will pay for 50% of the qualification costs to help you achieve these goals.

We will help you to gain the following qualifications:

– BCU Paddle Sports Instructor Level one
– GNAS or IAAA Archery instructor Level one
– ISA Powerboat Safety Boat Award
– All other recognised outdoor qualifications are considered, we will assist you with the correct equipment and contacts you require.

Requirements

There are no specific experience or qualifications required, however some experience participating in outdoor activities and/or working with youths/groups is desirable. There is a minimum age of 18 years.
The most important qualities that we will be looking for in our candidates are:

Carlingford Adventure is recognised as the most successful outdoor adventure centre in Ireland. We’re lucky enough to be located in a stunning part of the Country and each year we welcome over 45 instructors to help us lead our action-packed land, sea and sky activities!

We are renowned for providing our Instructors with industry leading training across all activities and this in turn provides an opportunity for our people to shine and ensure all our guests have fun in a safety first environment! The activities we offer include Ireland’s Largest Aerial Zip Park, climbing, canoeing, high ropes, hill walking, kayaking, raft building, sailing, team building, SUP and Laser Combat.

Requirements

You must be enthusiastic and passionate about outdoor adventure! All our instructors must a valid First Aid certificate and hold at least one of the following qualifications:
